The Time for Action is Now
Tell Springfield you want better trains today.
Right now the Illinois General Assembly is having a debate on how transit should be governed in Chicago and its suburbs.
We have a unique opportunity to supercharge this deliberation and unite behind a bold, statewide vision for fast, frequent, affordable trains and finally give our communities the modern transportation they deserve.
The Illinois General Assembly should enact a comprehensive, Integrated Network Program for trains and connecting bus services that blanket the entire state.
Call your legislators, get an endorsement from your mayor, attend public meetings, and spread the word in your community. Demand the trains Illinois deserves—our future depends on it.
Legislation is in the Works
The future of transit and intercity rail is being decided now in Springfield as lawmakers take up HB3438.
The Senate has already passed the bill, and the House must now act. We support this legislation as a crucial step forward.
The bill provides:
- Up to $135 million for intercity passenger rail projects across Illinois
- $200 million annually for downstate transit infrastructure
- A framework to transform Metra into true regional rail
- A statewide body to coordinate trains, buses, and local transit systems
- Stable funding for the RTA to prevent severe service cuts in 2026
